Testimonials
Indirect Cost Proposals:
The University of Southern California has utilized the services of Hirons & Associates in assisting us with an aging study during our last Indirect Cost Proposal. While USC currently has an in house equipment management team, the expertise provided to us by the Hirons team was an integral part in USC being able to negotiate a higher equipment depreciation component. Their level of expertise and service didn’t go unnoticed and look forward to future engagements with Hirons & Associates.

Risk Pool:
“Our property reinsurers, over time, and rightfully so, have requested ever more comprehensive and detailed property schedule information before they will bind coverage and I’m pleased to say that due to the property inspection/appraisal process we have followed and values which are updated annually, and the quality of your firm’s appraisal work, we have never run into any difficulty with our reinsurers or inquiries from them questioning the accuracy or validity of our values. Other pools have not been as fortunate.”

Building Componentization:
The Medical University of South Carolina has had the pleasure of engaging the services of Hirons & Associates for more than 10 years. Greg and Steve have supported us through three F&A rate preparations and negotiations by providing building componentization services. What we valued most was they did not disrupt our daily activities and provided us with an end product which required no adjustments or reconciliations. Because of their expertise with federal requirements and their knowledge of the F&A rate software we utilize the process was seamless.
Hirons offers the highest quality work as well as excellent customer service.
Velma Stamp | Director, Grants and Contracts Accounting | Medical University of South Carolina
Hirons has provided the University with building componentization services for nearly a decade. These services have allowed the University to meet financial reporting requirements and to obtain ever increasing rates for F&A cost recovery. Hirons’ work has always been thorough, accurate, professional and timely.

We have been extremely pleased with the services offered by Hirons & Associates, Inc. during our association with them over the past twenty-five years. We have found the Building Componentization Study, which we have updated on an annual basis, essential for the successful submission of our Facilities and Administrative rate proposal. Their expertise, responsiveness, and professionalism are of a high quality.
Michael S. Daniels │ Executive Director for Research Financial Operations │ Northwestern University
The University of California, San Diego, has retained Hirons and Associates on two occasions:
- To establish componentized useful lives for 86 campus facilities, so that a more realistic annual depreciation could be included in overhead rate development, and
- To determine the building and room location of equipment in 98 academic buildings, so that equipment depreciation could be allocated on a building and room basis in the overhead rate calculation.
In both cases, Hirons exhibited professional expertise, a clear understanding of the politics and inner workings of campuses, excellent flexibility in planning, scheduling, follow-up, issue resolution, report and data format, and defense of the results during the rate review and negotiation. In both engagements, all aspects of the studies were customized to meet the needs of the campus.
